Updates on mini jet boat - 1.1.12, 2.1.12
Boat complete : ) Trailer touched up with a bit of grey paint
too. A 20 month build process taking at least 8 hours
most weekends.

There are these main things I have
learnt..
1. Plan everything, down to the millimetre. I
didn't, so it cost me too much time, money and frustration.
Something like this is most likely to be enjoyed with only nothing
but excellent planning.
2. Research existing designs and ideas, Stand on
the shoulders of giants.
3. Don't try to make a part perfect, just make
it functional, good looking and lasting.
4. Estimate reasonably your time for each part
and its installment. Then double this and add a half
more.
5. If you set deadlines, expect them to be
extended multiple
times.
6. Know why you're building something, and
remind yourself consistently.

Updates on mini jet boat - 22.11.11
Tested the mini jet boat out at Cass Bay, Christchurch. Was hard
to keep running until i gave the choke a flick and off we went! Sat
quite nicely in the water, accelerates well, and given some beans it
really gets going quick! I didn't push the pedal nor my luck too
far, and at half to 3/4 throttle it has some good thrust behind it.
The steering is very responsive too. A successful test!
I
haven't got any pictures of the testing but I will update with the
most recent view of the setup as soon as possible.
Updates on mini jet boat - 31.10.11
Back hatches for engine and fuel tank, yet to be made flush with
edges, bogged, sanded primed etc - no larger
images avail for these four pix atm.

Updates on mini jet boat - 17.10.11
These are skid rails on either side
of the jet intake, mainly used to cover up the holes I made for the
engine mount bolts but serve a purpose for protecting some of the
back part of the hull. Although the grate sits
lower than these.
TODO for testing
stage:
- Extend grate fins to cover
half circle water intake to jet unit
- bolt motor onto
recently installed mounting brackets
- Buy battery - Install fuel tank
- loom up motor - simply bolt in
steering
- check seals watertight - install foot
pedal.
- temporary stop/start buttons
etc.
Updates on mini jet boat - 2.10.11

Added a couple of pieces of
dressed pine to make a diagonal struct in an attempt to further
reinforce the bearing block. 30hp may otherwise have a significant
effect on the flexing of this bearing block strut.
